Young and violent Nikki is given an outlet for his anger and pain when he is recruited by Dr. X to be an assasin for an underground movement. Pumped full of drugs he is sent out to kill religious and political leaders throughout the city.
In the midst of this he finds quasi redemption at the hands of Sister Mary and Father Williams. She is a nun with a background of abuse, drugs and prostitution he is a priest of practices that are definately not scriptural. All is well until he is told to kill them both for knowing too much. He decides to kill Father Williams and then runaway with Sister Mary as she is the only person he has ever come to love.
After killing the priest he heads over to Mary's only to find her already dead, killed by another. His mind snaps and he sits there catatonic as the police arrive and arrest him, wherein he is placed in a mental institution.
An institution run by Dr. Written by Darren Lewis. Although technically not an Opera, as there are speaking parts this was by far the best rock story since Tommy.
The music is inspiring, the lyrics tell a great story and it should be made into a full length film. The story is twisted and really makes you think about society as a whole.
The characters are all in themselves compelling and draw you in, weather you want them to or not. It is very easy to relate to any of them. Just the fact that you know this has or could go on somewhere is disturbing.
Despite my complaining the video looks amazing though and is really a fantastic production. I was just at a Bush concert and I had a bitch of time hearing the words beyond the over-amped guitars. This release manages to get that perfectly right! The extras on the disc are not amazing and only in standard definition. Operation Mindcrime Part I 1. I Remember Now 2. Anarchy-X 3. Any chance I get, I always try to persuade someone to listen, yes actually listen to this music with a message Queensryche has brought to us. Janet Dery Wilmington DE My most memorable trip to see them was when they were on tour for Operation Mindcrime. Needless to say, the show was amazing, but my car broke down in the Bronx on the drive home later found out it was the water pump that went.
It took 3 trains, 1 bus and 4 hours to get home from the Bronx, which means it was about 6 am before we got back to Brooklyn. I then had to tell my parents where I had been because I needed them to help me get the car back and fixed. My second most memorable occassion to see them was at a small club in Dewey Beach a few years ago. It was Halloween, but since the weather was beautiful, the show was moved to a location further down the road that was open to the outside, but small enough that you could see the band easily from anywhere in the club.
It was interesting to see how many people were dressed up in halloween costumes and at the show. It was a last minute decision to go on the part of me and my husband, but we were both thrilled that we made the decision and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Becky Bryan Garner, NC I have traveled over miles to see them play in Northern Michigan in the dead of winter, Geoff Tate has the best vocals of anyone out there today and yesterday and they have talent too!
Queensryche rocks my world all the time, especially when my mom cringes at the sight of the tattoo, I can still irritate her like I was 17 again! That is cool! Luv ya mom but you will never get it!
I have seen the band 12 times in the last 20 years and no other band can touch that with me! You will always be my band! The fact they are originators and pioneers of progressive hard rock has resulted in the longevity and dedicated fan base that every band strives for, but very few attain. I would consider Queensryche the ultimate live band. Every time I have been to a Queensryche show, they have delivered a killer and tight performance. Geoff Tate is one of the rare front men out there that can deliver consistently time after time.
His vocals are unmistakable and always on!! Geoff is also an individual who is not afraid to talk and sing about controversial subjects. He is straightforward and willing to speak his mind! That is rare nowadays, and something I really respect and appreciate.
Michael Wilton is also a very underrated axeman. They also play songs from all throughout their history live. They understand that people want to hear the new and older classic songs live.
I get requests — so many requests — to play this record in its entirety. I can remember the day that Operation Mindcrime came out. Freiheit Ouverture.
